The design of The Shaded House in Ahmedabad by Ar. Prashant Parmar, Shayona Consultant, is as per the firm’s sustainable and ethical design practices
Keeping in mind the summer temperature of Ahmedabad, the firm created frames at various levels to cast large shadows on the south face, which help to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature. Large windows on the east side bring in maximum daylight, which, along with a solar rooftop and solar water heater help reduce electrical consumption and thereby the carbon footprint of the building.
The robust material pallet includes natural wood cladding panels, modified clay, the natural and versatile stonecrete to create white textured walls, and red brick cladding on the exterior. MS trellis patterns in the terrace garden, the main gate and the compound wall, create harmony.
With sensible planning, proper use of resources, site management, and judicious selection of materials, we have created this house at just Rs. 3000/sqft. We believe that it’s not necessary to spend lavishly to get good results, instead spend insightfully
