M.B. Sahni, CMD & K.D. Sahni, Vice Chairman & Joint Managing Director, Elofic Industries, elaborate on the company's expertise in filtration to make air purifiers that are especially designed and developed for the Indian environment

Elofic Industries: Leveraging Seven Decades of Expertise
How is Elofic meeting the increasing demand for air purifiers in Indian cities?
Some of the major metros in India like Delhi and Kolkata are under the pollution radar. This perhaps should be enough reason for the inhabitants to invest in air purifiers.

However, the import culture with respect to air purifiers (that isn’t manufactured keeping Indian environment in mind) in India raises questions on the quality and the pricing. In fact, nobody is using the filtration expertise; rather they are importing products from China.

We have 67 years of experience in the filtration industry, and a thorough understanding of the dynamic nature of the filtration process. We are also aware of how the Indian audience perceives air purifiers, so we are making the products to suit the Indian climate and the people’s needs.

What is the core element in a good air purifier?
The filter is at the heart of a good air purifier. We understand the nitty gritties of filtration and are designing a 7-stage multi-layered media filter comprising of activated carbon, substrate and other layers in our air purifiers, which can filter the PM 2.5 levels, and assuring up to 99.99 percent filtration. The ducts present in the purifiers have high holding capacity, which in-turn increases the quality and rate of purification while ensuring low power consumption (despite running for 24 hours, power consumption is as low as Rs.6/day).

Elofic has the capability to design and manufacture air purifiers for residential spaces of 328 sq.ft and for commercial spaces of 2500 sq.ft; we also have a patent for making air purifiers for cars in India

Our purifiers are designed in such a way that there are no bypass and no leakage of unfiltered air passing through the filter. We have set up a manufacturing lab for air purifier assembling. This further encourages customization, and today, Elofic has the capability to design and manufacture air purifiers for residential spaces of 328 sq.ft and for commercial spaces of 2500 sq.ft. We also have a patent for making air purifiers for cars in India.

What customer services is Elofic providing?
We see ourselves as a go-to solution provider. Our team relies heavily on customer feedback and market research to continuously innovate. As the market progresses, the customer demands newer products with more advanced technologies. For Elofic, the market demand is a challenge for creating bespoke products that are designed and developed at our high end DSIR approved R&D centre where testing is done as per AJM standards and the Clean Air Deliverance (CADR) regulations.

We have a dedicated toll-free number where our customers can lodge complaints or request for demos. As a B2B and B2C channel, the company’s products are sold across e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart and at stores like Croma, making it easier for customers to own a product that is Made in India for the Indian environment.

What new plans does the company have?
As a recipient of many awards and recognitions by major companies like TATA Motors, Royal Enfield, and Maruti, Elofic Industries has experienced a 300 percent growth surge in 2018, just within a year of launching its air purifiers. However, the team is not limiting itself to the number and is focused on a sizable market share in the near future. We plan to expand our product portfolio, add more models, and have several new categories as per the customer requirements in the domestic and commercial realm, while dwelling a little deeper into the car air purification and industrial spaces paradigm.
